Opinions and reviews of Pukekohe High School in
Reviews from teachers, students and parents.
Our users often ask questions and request information about the term dates, uniform , ofsted, mumsnet, teachers, former pupils and classmates, teachers and experiences.
Terrible, and very inconsistent management, whether that be of teachers, or of the staff. Teachers are a hit or miss, and generally do not fulfill any personal requests of yours, especially if relevant to mental health, or actually help contribute to academic success. Instead, they usually focus on the good students, and ignore the ones they cannot control. Staff-wise, there are news about it – staff member disclosing sensitive information, not raising the pride flag… even when celebrating student academic success, there will still be mistakes resulting in messy, unorganised prizegivings with some students who either aren’t supposed to be there, or student names not being enlisted thus consequently missing out on the recognition.
School spirit is practically non-existent (it has severely declined over the last few years), despite recent efforts to reignite them. Even students who first come to this school are immediately made aware of the poor environment, and are conditioned with attitudes not befitting a good education. Plenty of students bunk. Uniform regulations are lax. Homeroom teachers are useless. Bathroom and classroom environment are not good.
However the school’s sports, music and art faculties are good, and all do considerably well.
Some students are actually rather good, but a shame they are attending here and are much, much better off pursuing a school that academically succeeds and recognises those talents. Do not attend this school if you don’t want your potential to be wasted.
